Our Steamer trunk fire pits, are just cool! They add such a great look to your deck or patio. They are a great conversation piece for you and your guests as well. All the trunks are original. We have found some as old as 1893 up to the 1930's. When we find them, we clean up the metal, and wood, and repair the trunks so they are in good working order. We add vents to all 4 sides for plenty of air-flow through the trunks. We add the valving and the actual burner, with a layer of fireproof putty between the burner and trunk top. We then pick between the 40 different colors of fire glass for the burner. We put two coats of Oil-based polyurethane on the trunks to keep them as water-proof as possible. We always recommend to our customers that they purchase a $20.00 BBQ cover for the trunks if they are going to be left outside to keep the majority of the moisture out of the trunks. We have added plywood to some of the bottoms of the trunks and added casters, so the trunks are able to be rolled in and out of a garage or shop, or shed.
